We arrived unruffled and on time, on a Pegasus Airlines' flight to Kayseri's small airport. It was to be an hour's transfer in darkness to our hotel on remarkably good and virtually empty roads. There were few lights in the countryside but the profile of low mountains in the background could just be seen. It was only for the last few miles that we drove on a single carriageway, and everything seemed all too easy and comfortable for a soft adventure holiday ..
